This is a current sketch I'm working on. I didn't scan the image from a sketch which is how I normally would do things. This time, I drew it use a wacom tablet. Hopefully it'll get done soon.

some more animation progress....

Okay, so I am almost done completing this. (Finally!) I colored most of the last section that I didn't have before. There are still a lot of nitpicky things I did to fix and tweak. I've just been getting a bit down with this animation lately. I've been getting great responses earlier on before I colored everything in. Last week when I showed some people the animation colored, for some reaosn I still didn't get that positive reaction. I know it still needs work but sometimes I really don't feel like doing it anymore but I know I have to because the band really needs it and I do want to finish it for myself.
I also feel that my skills still aren't good enough yet which really pisses me off because I really do try. I'm not quite sure what else to do. I've been feeling a little discouraged I guess. Maybe I just feel that my skills as an animator are limited. I don't know.
I'll post the completed version soon.

more animation completed!

Okay so although this isn't completely finished, I happen to get a shit load of the animation fully completed and colored. This is fully editing with all of the animation. I still have to touch things up and the last section (background in orange) still needs to be colored and cleaned up. Also, the editing needs touching up. I don't get why I always put myself in this situation where the editing still is a bit rough in spots. I have an idea to fix it but it's just so damn time consuming. I'm pretty proud of myself because I've gotten a lot done since last week considering I am sleep deprived and ever since work started, I've only been getting 3 hours of sleep each night. I also haven't taken been able to go to the gym at all this past week because I'm trying to finish this animation up as fast as possible because the band really needs it. It sucks but once this is over, I'll be really happy and have a life again. lol. Anyway, enjoy!

some finished animation...

This is a sample peek of some finished animation. Skip to the scene after the giant drops the female down. Also, ignore the weird shit at the end. That will be edited. I have much more done but I'm not going to have time to post it. I will post the video when it is completely finished. Stay tuned....

some work in progress

I decided to paint the ink drawing of this (scroll to see the September 1 post) for fun since I haven't painted in a while. I hate how the colors get washed out when posting on here. The colors are actually much more vibrant. I am hoping to finish this soon. See ya.

finalized flyer

This is the final flyer that I designed and I think personally looks better than what the salesman wanted.

redesign flyer from client...

NOTE: PLEASE FIRST READ THE POST FROM YESTERDAY. OTHERWISE YOU MIGHT NOT UNDERSTAND THIS.

Okay so after showing the client my flyer design, he then told me to take out the sleepy guy laying on the box. :( I thought that was a really cute idea. They then told me to make a few other changes which seems understandable such as making the box color a lighter color, adding the test The Mattress Professionals underneath Sleepys and taking out some of the contact info. This was what I came up with. (above)
Personally, I think this looks more boring but if they like it then fine. I can't argue. I guess this is the first time this has ever happened to me also. At my last job, they would generally guide me and briefly explain what they wanted and they would generally like what I did but they would never tell me how to actually design something. They would say to maybe add something to it or add this text, etc. But it would never sacrifice my design. Anyway, I'm curious to get a second opinion.

original flyer

NOTE: YOU SHOULD READ THE POST FROM YESTERDAY BEFORE YOU READ THIS NEW ONE. Okay so this was the original flyer that I redesigned which I showed below. I basically took there original design (above) and redesigned it (below from yesterdays post). I can't believe they originally used this flyer. The colors are washed out and some of the layout is awkwardly placed.I think I improved their flyer and modernized it. No one at the office said anything about the improvements I made which I find kind of strange. Maybe they don't really care enough?? I have no idea.

flyer design

Well so far my new job has been going pretty well. It got really hectic yesterday and I had to stay late to get something finished. It really annoyed me because I was planning on going to the gym and this screwed up all of my plans. I plan on going tonight. Anyway, this is the first graphic design job I had to do. They needed me to design a flyer so this is what I came up with. Their original flyer was horrible. I can't believe they even used that flyer. The colors were ugly and the layout wasn't even good. I basically took the time to redesign the whole thing. I think as a whole it came out well. I might make some minor adjustments later. We'll see. I better get back to work.

some more work....

This is some random work I did. I had to take this comic book test for a motorcycle company or something like that. I had to take one of there characters, redraw them in my style but still keeping the general features along with a futuristic motorcycle. I've never really drawn motorcycles but luckily, I bought a book called "How To Draw Choppers Like A Pro" last year which has definitely helped me in my aid. The book actually has some useful tips and talks about proportions of a chopper and has some really amazing illustrations in it. The motorcycle above was more or less my first attempt at creating my own motorcycle. Although I'm not the best at it, I definitely want to improve in drawing more mechanical objects.  I also didn't realize this until now but I think the arm on the girl is a little too short. Oh well. I can always go back into photoshop and fix that. Thank god for photoshop.
I don't think I'm going to get picked to do this comic book job and I don't completely trust the company. I e-mailed them with some questions along time ago and they never responded. They do have a website with a phone number but I've been so busy I never called them. Oh well. It was still a good experience I guess.
Now, if you want to buy the book I bought I must warn you. There perspective section is a joke. They briefly go over perspective in it's simplest form. I think they should have made that a much bigger chapter because they show you examples and they don't really explain how they did it.  I do have some decent knowledge of perspective so I could figure things out but still.

Oh I actually do have a technical question. Does anyone know how to ink really smooth lines? I tried my best but my inked lines for my motorcycle aren't as smooth as I would like. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Anyway, must keep working on my animation. See ya.
