new design...

This is a new character design I'm working on. It's actually redoing a previous character design I did in college. I think it's pretty interesting to see the difference. comic book pages

Well I'm not sure if I posted this but I have been working on my own comic whenever I have any free time on my hands which usually means I have to work on it over the weekend. I'm basing it off of my animated short "Getting Out." If you haven't seen it, you can see it on my website. www.IanTopple.com. Well anyway, I decided to post a sneak peek as to what some of the pencils look like. These will be inked and there will be words and everything which I will add on the computer.

FINISHED!

My robot dog is finally finished. I really like how this came out and will continue to explore this process in future illustrations. I really should be in bed right now but I just finished applying to a video game artist position and I can't update my website so I had to put links in the e-mail from other sources and it took fucking forever.I would have done this earlier but I wanted to finish this first before sending it. I'm glad I did this to add to my portfolio. Well anyway, comments are always welcome for those who look at my website. lol. Goodnight.

Okay, I think I might hold off on the earlier sketch that I posted because I don't particularly like certain things but instead i decided to do something new. I think I've actually had a break through in how to paint on the computer more towards what I wanted in the first place. I kind of start it like I would do a watercolor painting and start off very lightly and then slowly build up the color.  I'm very happy I didn't give up on figuring out a diff method of painting and i think i am on to something. This is a working progress of what I have been doing today. It may not be the most amazing concept ever but i still like it anyway. I'm mainly trying to just bash stuff out because i haven't been doing that enough lately. Any thoughts or comments are always welcome. 

something new

Sorry for the crappy scan job. I was thinking of inking it first and then updating it but I still want to try using a different technique which I'm still trying to figure out.  I ended up redrawing a previous character design I made which you can see in earlier posts.  I still wasn't quite happy with it so this is my redoing it for the third time. I think the drawing came out better so hopefully we'll see what happens. Wish me luck. 

FINALLY FINISHED!!!!

Finally, I finished it! It took me longer than I thought so I'm happy that it's finally over. Hehe.

Here is some more progress on it. It sucks that the colors get desaturated a bit when I upload it on here but oh well. Maybe i need to make my jpeg a higher resolution. But anyway, I'm still working on it but i think it's looking pretty good. Hopefully I have the finished version up here very soon.

 

Here is more progress on what I'm working on. Things still need to be worked out and i need to keep pulling and pushing the contrast and refining things but i think its coming together in general. I will keep posting more progress soon.

Here is some more progress that I made on it today. Still have a lot more to do but I'm gad something finally good is happening in this. I guess I just have to keep working at it. Hopefully I'll have more posts on this later in the week. 

I just started painting this today. I prob worked on it for about a few hours. I still have a lot more to do on it. I will be posting more working progress stuff later in the week. I'm really glad I redrew the figure because i didn't like how it was drawn before. Well anyway, check back later

This is a new illustration I'm working on. I inked the original sketch (see below to the March 4th entry) and I'm going to start coloring it in Photoshop. I actually redrew the female figure from the original sketch because I wasn't satisfied with the way it came out. Anyway, keep checking for updates.
